LITTLE ROCK, AR - A local man is hospitalized in critical condition after police say a vehicle hit him as he ran along a city street, then it kept going.
It happened shortly after 6 this morning along N. Hughes St. near Amherst Cove in a neighborhood just off W. Markham Street.
The victim is identified as Barry M. Livingston, 76, who lives just a short distance from where it happened. Police said he had left his home for a run around 6. The police report noted there were no sidewalks in the area.
Another man who was jogging down N. Hughes first found Livingston, who was lying in grass alongside the street, and called for help.
Police say Livingston suffered a severe head injury and broken leg and was scheduled for emergency surgery at last report. There was no further word on his condition.
A set of headphones was found near where Livingston fell.
Police say it's possible the driver of the hit & run vehicle might also have been injured.
The police report also noted that the speed limit in the area is 25 mph.
