JACKSONVILLE, AR - These officers know all about protecting and serving, and now it's time to take a break.
Jacksonville K-9 Cop, Robby, retired after six years of service to the department.
He was honored on Friday in a special ceremony. He did narcotics detection as well as suspect apprehension.
He's retiring after getting injured on the job, getting brutally beaten by a suspect.
"He just steadily just started going down here where he couldn't jump in the car, jump over fences, so he was only
doing half of what he was supposed to do so it was determined that he needed to retire," says Regina Boyd.
Robby will live out the rest of his days with Officer Regina Boyd
He will be replaced by K-9 Cop Alex who comes to the department from the Netherlands.
