Lavaca Woman Arrested for Furnishing Prohibited Articles to Jail Inmates
FORT SMITH, AR - A Lavaca woman has been arrested by the Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) after an investigation into tobacco* products being given to inmates at the county jail.
The SCSO says it received information that a contract employee who works for Aramark had been furnishing the products to inmates.
The investigation of the information led them to Jessica Vore, 39, who is charged with Furnishing Prohibited Articles.
Aramark is contracted with the county to provide meals for the detention center.
The Sheriff's Office says investigators discovered that Vore, over the course of the last several weeks, was bringing tobacco products into the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center (SCADC) and the items were getting into the hands of several inmates.
*Tobacco is a prohibited item in the SCADC.
