LITTLE ROCK, AR - A motorcycle police officer is recovering from a leg injury suffered when his bike collided with a car.
It happened around noon on Wednesday along Roosevelt Rd. near the intersection with Broadway.
A motorcycle driven by Officer Tim Stankevitz, 44, collided with the front of a 2002 Chevrolet Impala driven by Katassja Washington, 25, of North Little Rock.
The officer said he tried to stop, but the impact threw him over the handlebars and onto the hood of the car. He was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released a short time later.
Washington was ticketed for failure to yield. She told police she didn't see the motorcycle as she pulled out of a private drive and tried to make a left turn onto Broadway. She was not injured.
Damage to the motorcycle and the car was estimated at $5,000 for each.
