17-Year-Old Charged in LR Apartment Shooting Which Left Another 17-Year-Old Dead

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - A 17-year-old boy has been arrested Friday in connection with the shooting death of another 17-year-old boy that happened April 26.
LRPD homicide detectives charged Ronterio Claybrooks as an adult. He is charged with Manslaughter, Aggravated Robbery and First Degree Battery.
Police say Claybrooks is one of three people who were involved in a robbery-shooting at an apartment complex on 6115 W. Markham.
Police say they believe Claybrooks, together with the 17-year-old boy who was shot and killed, were both robbing an 18-year-old boy. Police say they believe gunfire was exchanged and the 18-year-old shot and killed the 17-year-old.
Police have interviewed the 18-year-old and released him without charges at this time, as they believe he was acting in self defense during a robbery.
Though Claybrooks wasn't the one who killed his 17-year-old accomplice, police say Claybrooks was charged with Manslaughter due to his involvement and instigation of the robbery which subsequently caused the gunfire.
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - One 17-year-old boy is dead and another is recovering after police say they were shot by a third teen who told officers the other two had tried to rob him.
The Little Rock Police Department (LRPD) released its report Thursday on the Wednesday evening incident at the Midtown Park Apartments (6115 W. Markham).
Officers were called to the high-rise building around 5:15 p.m. to investigate a report of shots fired. That's where an 18-year-old who lives in the building told police he had "exchanged gunfire" with the other two teens.
Police are not releasing the names of the 17-year-olds since both are juveniles. The 18-year-old was interviewed by detectives and subsequently released without charges pending a review by the prosecuting attorney’s office. Police say they are not looking for any other individuals.
Before police arrived to investigate the double shooting, they were notified that one of the injured teens went to St. Vincent hospital by private vehicle. He had reportedly been shot multiple times and was admitted with injuries described as not life-threatening. When police got to the apartment building, they found the second juvenile in a stairway with a gunshot wound. Paramedics were not able to revive him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Original story:
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - A double shooting Wednesday evening leaves one dead and another in the hospital, the Little Rock Police Department (LRPD) says.
The LRPD says the shooting happened in the 6100 block of W. Markham at the Midtown Park Apartment Complex across from Park Plaza Mall. They were called to the scene just after 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Nearly two dozen shots were fired, according to police.
They say, when they arrived, they saw a man who had been shot multiple times running away from the apartments. Just moments later, they found a man -- also shot multiple times -- lying dead in a stairwell between the sixth and seventh floors of the apartment complex.
Police say the shooting could have stemmed from a robbery. But it's still unclear if one, both or neither of the victims were those doing the shooting. If neither of the victims was the shooter, police say they do not yet have a suspect description.
This is Little Rock's 18th homicide of the year..
