AR Child Sex Investigation Leads to Arrest of MA Man

FAULKNER COUNTY, Ark. - A Massachusetts man has been arrested after Arkansas officers investigating a case of sexual contact with underage children report findings to federal officials.

The Faulkner County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) says an undercover identity used by of its investigators was first contacted by the man in Jan. 2017. When the FCSO investigator communicated further with the suspect, he reportedly told them he was interested in traveling to Arkansas for the purpose of sexual contact with an underage child.

In mid-April 2017, the FCSO says the suspect revealed he had recently had sexual contact with a 3-year-old girl he described as a family member and provided photos to the investigator. According to the Sheriff's Office, the man also said he had more photos of the encounter.

The investigator subsequently called the FBI office in Little Rock, who then forwarded the case to FBI offices in New York and Massachusetts. Two days after a joint investigation was opened, an arrest warrant/search warrant was served at a home in Haverhill, Massachusetts. Following the execution of the search warrant, Michael McCann, 30 of Haverhill, Massachusetts was arrested and charged with sexual exploitation of a child.
