Arkansas Rape Suspect Arrested in North Dakota

BISMARCK, N.D. - An Arkansas rape suspect is jailed in North Dakota after being apprehended there by U.S. Marshals.

Cory Oxford, 26, had been wanted by the Franklin County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) since 2016.

A U.S. Marshals news release issued Tuesday states that on Jan. 5, 2018, the FCSO met with U.S. Marshals to request assistance in finding Oxford.

He faces two counts of Rape and Transportation of a Minor for Prohibited Sexual Conduct from a July 2016 case.

After several months of investigation, and through a close partnership with Franklin County, the U. S. Marshals Western Arkansas Fugitive Task Force tracked Oxford to Bismarck, where he is believed to have fled after learning of the pending charges. He was arrested Monday in Bismarck, North Dakota without incident and is being held there at the Burleigh County Jail, awaiting extradition to Franklin County, Arkansas.
