Bright Futures Little Rock Help Two Students

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - " Bright Futures, Little Rock" program  helped  fill two students needs within 24 hours of the original post. this week.

On Thursday, the Facebook page posted  that the home of two LRSD students burned and that they need two twin mattresses along with dressers.  Four people is all that it took to fulfill the needs of the students. The post garnered 14 total shares within a day of it being posted.

The Little Rock School District (LRSD)  began this social media initiative in January to help connect needy students with resources.

The LRSD is partnering with the city and Goodwill.

Bright Futures is part of a national movement to identify kids' needs, and to use social media to create a call to action for the community.

"It could be that they lack clothing, proper nutrition and food, or it even could be like a bed. And we believe our community is such that they will rally around that," LRSD Superintendent Michael Poore said.

Superintendent Poore says he pushed to bring "Bright Futures" to Little Rock after seeing the program's success when he worked in Bentonville. He says the network can often connect students with what they need within just 24 hours.
