LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - After two Little Rock Police Department (LRPD) recruits left the force shortly after receiving a $5,000 signup bonus, the city has made a change to the policy.
Content partner Max Brantley (Arkansas Blog-Arkansas Times) reports Thursday that City Manager Bruce Moore has sent a memo that alters the plan to require payback for those who quit before two years of service as follows:
- An individual who resigns before one (1) year has passed since his/her graduation will return 100% of the $5,000
- An individual who resigns before two (2) years has passed since his/her graduation will return 50%, or $2,500

Our Mitch McCoy first reported back in Sept. 2017 about criticism of the bonus when those two recruits quit the force after working for only a short time.
