Drowning Incident at Heber Springs Area Lake Claims 23-Year-Old's Life

CLEBURNE COUNTY, Ark. - A 23-year-old boy drowned in a lake in Heber Springs Saturday, the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) said.
Around 11 a.m. on June 17, deputies with the CCSO were dispatched to Sandy Beach Swim Area in Heber Springs for a possible drowning.
Deputies learned that a small group of people had been attempting to swim to a fixed object near the beach when one member of the group went under the water.
According to witnesses, several people attempted to find the man and rescue him, but were unsuccessful.
A short time later, deputies say the body of Darryl Sullins, 23, of Searcy was recovered from the water.
The investigation is ongoing.
