Entrepreneurs Vie for Product Space on Walmart Shelves

BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) -- More than 450 businesses are in Bentonville Wednesday for a shot at the American dream.

Entrepreneurs from across the nation will be at Walmart headquarters to pitch their U.S. made products at the company's fifth annual open call.

More than 750 meetings have been scheduled with Walmart buyers.

Some businesses there are vying to get their products in Walmart stores for the first time, and existing suppliers are trying to expand their assortment into other areas of the store.

"It's defiantly a meet and greet," said Kina Thomas, senior buying manager. "It's an opportunity for people to get together and build community and network with one another."

From toys and apparel to health and beauty, this year's variety of new, innovative products represents a broad range of categories.
