Little Rock Homicides Hit 10-Year High

Most homicides since 54 killings in 2007

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Little Rock's homicide total has hit a 10-year high.

A hostage situation turned into a murder-suicide Monday morning at the Knollwood Mobile Home Park.  That marked the city's 50th homicide for 2017.

According to LRPD statistics, the 50 homicides puts the city at its highest mark since 2007 and there's still one month to go in the year.

Here's a year-by-year breakdown:

  • 2007 - 54
  • 2008 - 38
  • 2009 - 30
  • 2010 - 24
  • 2011 - 37
  • 2012 - 47
  • 2013 - 36
  • 2014 - 44
  • 2015 - 31
  • 2016 - 42
  • 2017 - 50

Despite the grim milestone, Little Rock's homicide rate has greatly slowed (video featured above) over the last few weeks.

Two officer-involved shootings previously ruled homicides have been cleared and removed from this year's total.
