Mountain Home Woman Jailed, Accused of Hitting Family Member

BAXTER COUNTY, Ark. - A local woman is jailed on a felony battery charge after an incident described as domestic violence.

The Baxter County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) says Sarah Lynn Smith, 39, of rural Mountain Home, is being held on $10,000 bond after the Sunday morning incident.

The BCSO says deputies were dispatched around 8:45 a.m. to an address on Elm Tree Lane on a complaint that Smith had assaulted and injured a 73-year-old woman who was a member of her family.

The wheelchair-bound victim was reported to have been struck three times in the face by Smith and sustained injuries.

Based upon the evidence, Smith was arrested and taken into custody.

Smith will appear in Baxter County Circuit Court to answer the charge on June 23.
