New Healthcare Rules Proposal

WASHINGTON, D.C.- The government is proposing new rules for what insurance companies must cover.

The new rules considered would allow insurance companies to redefine short-term health care plans.

Critics say the new plans would only appeal to the healthiest Americans, and leave millions of others stuck with what they describe as "junk" plans.

The Secretary of Health and Human Services says his goal is only to give people more choices when it comes to choosing health care coverage.

Health and Human Services Sec. Alex Azar says, "An individual would have to decide if these plans are right for them. They would have to go in with their eyes open and realize what is and what's not covered."

The government says it hasn't made any final decisions.

The public can weigh in until the end of April.
