VAN BUREN, Ark. ( KNWA)- A teacher working for Van Buren High School was arrested Oct. 4 for filming a student in a bathroom stall, according to a press release from the Van Buren Police Department.
Kennard Lombard of Fort Smith was arrested for one count of Video Voyeurism, a Class D Felony that can carry up to six years in prison and a $10,000 fine, according to Van Buren Police.
Officials at the school were made aware of the incident after the student who was filmed approached a teacher, and said he thought someone had recorded him with a cellphone through a seam in the bathroom stall, according to the press release.
The principal of the school immediately notified the school resource officer, who began an investigation. After reviewing surveillance video, the officer was able to identify a suspect, who was then asked to the Van Buren Police Department for an interview, according to the press release.
After being interviewed by detectives, Lombard was arrested for Video Voyeurism.
Lombard was booked into the Crawford County Jail, where he remains on a $15,000 bond, according to Van Buren Police. The investigation is ongoing, and more information will be released as it becomes available.
