Police: AR Man Beaten, Robbed after 2 Help Carry His Groceries

FORT SMITH, Ark. (KNWA) - The Fort Smith Police Department is looking for two people accused of robbing a 70-year-old man.

Police say it happened after Dale Virgil Roberts, 29, and Nicole Taylor Standige, 30, helped the victim carry his groceries into his home on S. Greenwood Road. Police said the elderly man knew Standige through his son, and that's why he let them help him.

After helping carry the groceries, Roberts and Standige allegedly hit the man in the head with a blunt object. The victim told police Roberts beat him and Standige tied his hands behind his back with an electrical cord. The victim said the two took cash, a debit card, a cell phone and other items. They were reported to be traveling in the victim's 2011 Kia Soul.

Roberts and Standige are wanted on charges of aggravated robbery, second degree battery and theft of property. Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to call police.
