Searcy Store Robbed, Suspect Arrested Within Minutes

SEARCY, Ark. - A local man has been arrested in the investigation of a robbery at the Walmart Neighborhood Market.

The Searcy Police Department says Nicholas Matthew Price, 22, was found to be in possession of a handgun and $3,500 in cash, which was the amount reported stolen from the store.

The robbery happened around 9 a.m. Friday at 1330 W. Beebe-Capps. Employees of the store told officers that a white male approached the customer service counter, reached over it and grabbed a stack of cash from the hands of an employee who was counting money.

The man then ran from the store and officers who were driving there when the robbery was reported spotted him, saw that he matched the description of the suspect and took him into custody after a brief foot chase.

Price was taken to the White County Detention Center. He has been charged with Robbery, Theft of Property, Possession of a firearm by Certain Persons and Fleeing.
