State Rep. Seeks to Make Fantasy Sports Betting Legal in AR

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - One State Representative is seeking to make betting on fantasy sports legal in Arkansas...

DraftKings is a popular game for many Arkansans during football season and some other sports seasons as well.

State Representative Jimmy Gazaway, (R)-Paragould, has introduced a bill that would not only make participating in the gambling app DraftKings legal, but it would add an 8 percent tax for the state.

It's said that about 67,000 Arkansans participate in fantasy sports betting daily.

"This legislation seeks to do is make legal what is already going on. Several other states have already done this. Ten other states have recently made legal fantasy sports," Rep. Gazaway said.

The bill has been introduced but will be held as lawmakers wait for more information.
