FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - (KNWA) Arkansas State Senator, Jake Files, submitted his official letter of resignation to Governor Asa Hutchinson Tuesday, January 30.
"It has been a privilege to represent Senate District 8 in the Arkansas Senate and to serve the citizens of Arkansas in the Arkansas General Assembly. I am proud of the work we have done together during my tenure," the letter states.
Files pleaded guilty on Monday to wire fraud following an FBI investigation, authorities say. The senator also pleaded guilty to money laundering and bank fraud, court records state.
"Please accept this as notice of my resignation from the Arkansas Senate, with my last day being Friday, February 9, 2018, This will ensure time to tie up any loose ends," the letter states.
