Student OD's in LR Central High Bathroom, Police Say

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - A student at Central High School is recovering from an apparent drug overdose and a fellow student gets credit for helping save her life.

According to a Little Rock Police Department incident report, it happened around noon Monday inside a women's restroom.

Police say the 16-year-old victim was found unconscious on the floor by another student.

School security and the school nurse were called in and then an ambulance was dispatched to the scene.

According to the LRPD report, Assistant Principal Beth Davis told police the victim "is a heroin user" and may have overdosed.

The report also states that "a student provided a dose of NARCAN and it was administered by the LRFD (Little Rock Fire Department)."

The victim was conscious and alert before being taken to Arkansas Children's Hospital, the report said.

On Thursday afternoon, the Little Rock School District issued this statement on the incident:
“Little Rock School District is investigating possible use of NARCAN but awaiting response from the State Nursing Board regarding guidelines and procedures.”
