Update: $4M Bond for Suspect in Central AR Attacks on Women

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - A local man arrested Monday for a string of attacks on women has been ordered held on $4 million bond after pleading not guilty in four incidents.

David Lee Jones, 22, was arraigned by video in North Little Rock District Court Tuesday morning. A public defender was appointed to represent him.

The high bond amount breaks down to $1 million per incident. The judge set a July 26 court date to review the case.

During his Tuesday morning arraignment, the court was told that Jones had been caring for a 5-year-old child and had attended Strayer University before transferring to Arkansas Baptist.

In the most recent incident Jones is accused of, he was reportedly hiding in the back of the victim's car. Officials say he pointed a gun at her neck, made her drive to a location and forced her at gunpoint to perform oral sex on him. DNA found on the victim's shirt reportedly linked Jones to the case.

Another of the incidents took place Easter Sunday on a running trail.

North Little Rock police arrested David Lee Jones, 22, of North Little Rock, after an alleged sexual assault Wednesday, and they have connected him to several other sexual assaults reported in North Little Rock and Sherwood.

In one report from April 11, Jones tells police he sexually assaulted a woman as she was walking home from work. He told police he held her at gunpoint behind a dumpster and forced her to perform sexual acts. He then took her wallet, ID, and cell phone. In this case, Jones is charged with Rape, Aggravated Robbery and Terroristic Threatening.

In another report from April 16, Jones admitted to police that he attacked a woman on a jogging trail. The victim told police he had a gun and threatened to kill her as he hit her in the face and head, causing her to have to go to the hospital. In this case, Jones is charged with Battery 2nd and Terroristic Threatening.

A third report from March 25 accuses Jones of approaching a woman and her friend at gunpoint and threatening to shoot them as he climbed in their car. They escaped. In this case, Jones is charged with two counts of Terroristic Threatening, Breaking or Entering, and Assault in the 3rd Degree.

Jones also may be connected to a recent incident at a Buffalo Wild Wings in Sherwood. Jones is accused of kidnapping a woman there, taking her to a nearby neighborhood and assaulting her.

"This has been a very time-consuming case and has required a lot of resources from several agencies," said NLRPD Sgt. Brian Dedrick.

North Little Rock detectives and members of the Eastern Arkansas Fugitive Task Force of the United States Marshals Service found and arrested Jones in a motel room in North Little Rock. Jones was interviewed by detectives before he was charged.

This arrest was made possible as the result of a joint effort by the North Little Rock Police Department, the Eastern Arkansas Fugitive Task Force of the United States Marshals Service, the FBI and the Arkansas State Crime Lab.

The North Little Rock Police Department said it would like to thank the community for calling in tips and leads after sketches were first released a few weeks ago.
