Update: 4th Arrest in Benton Parking Lot Shooting Investigation

BENTON, Ark. - A fourth person has been arrested in the investigation of a shooting incident Monday in the parking lot of Academy Sports.

That's according to the Benton Police Department, which also says a suspect already in custody faces additional charges.

The BNPD had previously said Tuesday it had arrested three men in the investigation. One of them, Chad Lane, 21, had drug charges added against him Tuesday afternoon.

Police say during the investigation, a search warrant was obtained and served at Lane’s home. During the search, officers seized suspected marijuana, suspected LSD, and weapons.

A woman who lived there with Lane was also arrested. She is identified as Morgan Carter, 21 (photo below). Both she and Lane face charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Purpose to Deliver; Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms; and an enhancement charge of Proximity to Certain Facilities.

The BNPD says this is an on-going investigation and more charges are possible.

BENTON, Ark. - Three men face charges in connection to a Monday afternoon shooting incident in the parking lot of Academy Sports + Outdoors on Interstate 30.

In a news release issued Tuesday morning, the Benton Police Department (BNPD) said one person was wounded in the incident and remains hospitalized with a serious injury but is expected to recover.

The BNPD says its officers were called to the scene around 2:40 p.m. to investigate a report of shots fired. The suspects had left the scene in a black Camaro and a white GMC double-cab truck. Police say both vehicles and the four involved in the incident were found a short time later.

The three men taken into custody are identified as:

  • LeBarron Tyquez Stewart, 20, of Benton. He faces a felony charge of 1st degree Battery
  • Chad Dylan Lane, 21, of Benton. He faces a felony charge of 1st degree Battery
  • Rashaad Edwin Earls, 22, of Little Rock. He faces a felony charge of Tampering with Physical Evidence, misdemeanor charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana), and misdemeanor charge of Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance
