Update: LR Boy, 17, Survives Shooting

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Police have released additional details about a shooting incident that wounded a teen boy Monday afternoon.

The incident report released Tuesday morning by the Little Rock Police Department stated that the 17-year-old was sitting in a vehicle outside an apartment in the 6200 block of Colonel Glenn Road when the suspect started shooting at him and then stole the vehicle.

Police say a family of four was traveling in a pickup truck through the area at the time of the shooting and their vehicle was hit by gunfire. The driver, a Bryant man, told police he thought he heard rocks hitting the vehicle. When he pulled over to check, he found bullet holes. He and his three children (ages 10, 8 and 3) were not hurt.

Officers reported finding shell casings and blood outside an apartment. The victim was found in the parking lot of a nearby Taco Bell and taken to the hospital by ambulance. Hospital staff told officers his wounds were not life-threatening.

The stolen vehicle was found about two hours later after a man walking along Leander Drive saw it parked on the roadside. He told police there was paperwork all over the ground by the vehicle and there were bullet holes in the car.
