Update: Teen Critical after PB Police Chase Ends in Crash

PINE BLUFF, Ark. - A teenaged suspect is reported in critical condition after being injured in a Tuesday night police chase that ended in a car crash.

The Pine Bluff Police Department (PBPD) says Joseph Reeves, 19, is hospitalized in Little Rock after being transferred from a local hospital.

The PBPD says Reeves was inside a car that officers began chasing after being called to investigate a shooting incident that left one person with an injury described as not life-threatening. The shooting victim reported having 20 shots fired at his vehicle by suspects in an SUV that then drove off. He was reported wounded in the shoulder and upper back.

Patrol officers later spotted a vehicle matching the description from the shooting incident and chased after it. Two males reportedly jumped out and the vehicle sped off again. One of them was caught and arrested. Police say Deangelo Conner, 20, he had suspected marijuana and a small scale in his possession. They also reported finding a 9mm handgun on the ground near where the two males had jumped from the SUV. Conner has been charged with Terroristic Act and Battery.

During the chase, stop sticks had been placed on a street and the suspect vehicle crashed after rolling over them and swerving. According to a police report, the chase reached speeds of 90 miles per hour. The suspect vehicle was totaled after it struck a utility pole, went airborne and landed in front of a Popeyes restaurant.

The other person in the suspect vehicle has been identified as Jimmy Henderson, 18, who was first taken to the hospital, then booked into the Jefferson County Jail for Terroristic Act and Battery.

The PBPD report states that Reeves was trapped in the vehicle after the crash and had to be removed from the SUV through a back window when the vehicle's hood area caught fire.
