Van Buren Teacher's Aide Arrested for Video Voyeurism

VAN BUREN, Ark. -- A teacher's aide working for Van Buren High School has been arrested after being accused of recording video of a student in a bathroom stall.

Kennard Lombard, 35, of Fort Smith has been charged with one count of Video Voyeurism.

The incident was reported by the student on Monday. The student told the teacher that the camera was inserted through a seam in the bathroom stall, with the camera pointed toward him.

The Van Buren High School principal immediately notified the School Resource Officer, who began an investigation into the incident. After reviewing surveillance video, a suspect was developed and asked to come to the Van Buren Police Department for an interview.

After being interviewed by detectives, Lombard was taken into custody.

Video Voyeurism is a Class D Felony in Arkansas punishable by up to 6 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Lombard was booked into the Crawford County Jail where he remains on a $15,000 bond.  The investigation continues and police say they expect to review more video and evidence.
