LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - When you venture into the great outdoors in Arkansas, you'll come across wildlife both big and small.
Annette L. Brown of Southwest Arkansas was fishing recently on Millwood Lake, outside Ashdown, when she met up with an alligator.
She recorded the attached video of the large reptile making its "call of the wild."
According to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, alligators will bellow loudly to attract a mate or declare their location. Although they have no vocal chords, they are one of the most vocal reptiles. They have several different calls to declare territory, signal distress, threaten competitors, and to find mates.
