1-year-old victim's mother speaks out

For the first time since someone killed her one-year-old daughter in a burning truck, Hannah Grace's mother is talking. There is also new information on the violent deaths of Hanna Grace and her father Michael Palmer.

As sheriff’s deputies continue their investigation into the deaths of a man and daughter found dead Saturday, the mother of the one-year-old victim says she saw her daughter the day she was killed.  "I just want them to know that I loved my daughter dearly,” Kayla Dowdie said.

At first Dowdie didn't want to talk about her loss but a neighbor encouraged her to open up.  "I am depressed. I am scared and I wish my baby was here so I could hold her and tell her how much I love her. I don't want to say anything to jeopardize the case," Dowdie said with tears.

Over the past week, we've seen many pictures of one-year-old Hannah and we first met them on January 1st 2008, Hannah's birthday. Dowdie provided us with another photo that she says was taken just one day before Hannah's death. Saturday, deputies found her daughter and Hannah’s father Michael Palmer dead inside a burning truck in Sweet Home.

"Michael was a good father but I don't want to say anything else…I want time to mourn and grieve over my daughter and I want...I, I don't want to say anything else,” she said.

Hannah Grace was in custody of foster parents for most of her life. Friday, Dowdie said it is especially hard for her because she also just lost custody of another child and she's pregnant with a third.

Dowdie says she has been cooperating with investigators and has an idea who may be responsible. Authorities have not released any information regarding suspects or persons of interest. The Pulaski County Sheriff's Department positively identified the two victims. Hannah’s former foster parents, Kevin and Holly Carr held a memorial service for the Hannah Grace Friday night. Authorities are not saying how Palmer and little Hannah died.
