Arkansas State Police are investigating a car crash that killed three Little Rock teenagers and injured another. It happened Friday night around 11pm in Saline County.
Police say the driver, 18-year-old Mikayla Hampton, was headed east on Interstate 30 when the car ran off the road into the woods. Brittney Givens, 19, Lauren Gilmore, 18, and 19-year-old Shernell King all died in the crash.
Friends tell us Givens and King went to pick up Gilmore and Hampton, who are freshman at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia when the crash happened.
"I fell apart. I thought I was dreaming, that it wasn't happening," explains Angela Bledsoe, mother of Lauren Gilmore.
"All the girls were a joy to be around, never a dull moment with any of these girls," says Jerral Brantley. Brantley is also the boyfriend of Gilmore. "I feel like I lost a part of me, when they called to tell me that she was dead. At first I thought, I can't believe it. So I called her dorm phone and she didn't answer. It's very hard. Words can't explain it," says Brantley.
"I'm going to miss her. We were like buddies, we were best friends and I will, I will miss her dearly," says Bledsoe.
Right now, funeral arrangements are being finalized for the teens. According to police, everyone, except Hampton was wearing a seat belt.
