TEXARKANA, Ark. (AP) — Police have arrested four children on suspicion of vandalism for allegedly causing thousands of dollars in damage to State Line Cemetery in Texarkana.

Police say the oldest of the suspects is a 13-year-old girl. The Texarkana Gazette reports that two other children under the age of 10 are suspected to be involved in the vandalism but will not be arrested because of their age.

Police say the cemetery was vandalized repeatedly in the past nine months. Last month, several monuments and headstones dating from the 19th century were knocked over and cracked.

The president of State Line Cemetery Association says the vandalism has caused $5,000 to $10,000 in damage.

Authorities say the vandals apparently used a heavy tool or sledgehammer to damage the monuments and gravestones.

These children should be required to help clean up the mess they made. Than they should be required to do some community service on every Saturday for weeks. Finally, the parent of any child involved in this should give them a real spanking for doing it. Maybe some of these kids need to learn what a willow switch is.

These "kids" are trash. Scumbags. What does that say about their parents?

Disgusting. If they have no respect for the dead now; then they will have no respect for the living later on. Parents should pay for every penny of damage; maybe then they will supervise their children in a better manner. Maybe. I'm betting they will be in the news again. When they become older, we will be hearing about more serious crimes they have committed.

Bucket of soapy water and a scrub brush and send them and the parents/guardian out there and make the parents supervise while the kids scrub every headstone and marker out there to the caretakers satisfaction. Then take them home and beat their butts. If they didn't like that punishmnet, dig a fresh grave, put them in a casket and lower them into it for awhile and see how they all like being in on something together.

When my daughter was about 6 or 7, she had a friend over to our apartment to play Barbies. I thought that they were doing just that until my downstairs neighbor knocked on my door. They appartently had the dye form the Make-your-own-Nailpolish kit and were squirting it out the window onto his deck. After they apologized to him, they took cleaning supplies and and cleaned the deck to his satisfaction. About the time this all came about, the friend's mom showed up to take her home. I explained the situation and the way the girls were being made to take responsibility for their mess. She wasn't happy with this because she had other things to do and it didn't fit into her plans for the day. I told her that my child would have to clean up the entire mess with or without her little darling. Also, if her little darling left without taking responsiblity for her actions, she would not be welcome back for another visit. Mom decided that she could wait. It only took the girls about 20 minutes and they learned a valuable lesson & the other mom got to keep her free babysitter.

No charges because of the childrens ages. I understand that the children are under 10 yrs of age, however these children need to be taught a lesson. The parents need to be responsible for the bill and the children need to do some community service and help in repairing the damages. If their old enough to cause the damage then they're old enough to clean, repair and pick up trash around the city. This is why our youth is out of control. The law does nothing to these kids " because of age". Yes this behavior starts at home either abuse, lack of attention or the parents just don't care but we as a nation need to step in and stop allowing these kids to get away with this kind of behavior. Parents not only need to pay for the damages but need to have CYFD pay them a visit to see how these kids are living. Seriously...wth are kids at this age out causing damage for and not at home. This nonsense has got to stop!!!!!!

Some will not be arrested due to their age. What a joke. If you dont hold kids accountable, no matter the age, they will not learn anything from this.
