HOT SPRINGS, AR - The 4th Annual Legends Balloon Rally kicked off in Hot Springs on Friday. Thousands attended to see the glow show and listen to the Charlie Daniels Band.

23 balloons from around the country travelled to Garland County to participate in this year’s rally. One of them is Spa Force One, piloted by Mike Hickey.

It's a lot more work than you think to get an eight story balloon in the air and, believe it or not, that's the easy part. It takes 90,000 cubic feet of air to carry one small basket.

Friday, Hickey flew the city of Hot Springs balloon over the spa city before the evening balloon glow. When asked if he ever gets nervous:

"Oh yeah. I'd be lying if I said I didn't."

You may think balloons are fairly fragile but Spa Force One can lift almost 2,000 pounds and fly for miles. The key if to find a gentle wind.

"You go up and down to check your wind so you have an idea when you get ready to land what your gonna do," said Hickey.

Saturday promises to be an even bigger day. People will be tailgating while Arkansas takes on Alabama on the jumbotron. After the fly-out and glow show, Three Dog Night will take the stage for the evening concert.
