ALEXANDER, AR – Alexander Police are searching for a 3rd person involved in a gunfight in Alexander Monday evening. Two other men involved in the shootout are in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are calling the gunfight a drug-related incident.

“There were drugs and money found at the crime scene, we’ll get to the bottom of it,” says Alexander Police Chief Horace Walters.

The shootout happened at a home near the intersection of Lindsey Drive and Violet Cove. When police arrived on scene they found one of the injured men laying in the yard. The other was taken to the hospital before police got there.

Lorene Salazar witnessed the aftermath of the gunfight while she waited at a bus stop for her son and nephew.

“I heard about fifteen shots fired, and I was about to get out of my truck, and that’s when I saw a black man running towards the bus stop with a pistol, some type of gun, in his hand and he ran off behind the trailer,” says Salazar.

Salazar saw the bloody man jump into a ditch and then into a car. That is when she called 911.

This isn’t the first time Alexander Police have had drug problems with this home. Walters says police had served several drug-related search warrants in the time prior to him becoming the police chief.

Police have not released the names of the victims. They won’t decide whether to file charges until after the men get out of surgery and officer have had a chance to interview them.

Actually the "Alexander" mailing address goes from the end of Vimy Ridge Road all the way to Lake Norrell. I have an "Alexander" mailing address but actually live in the city limits of Little Rock. If you use the mailing address there is a lot more nice areas than ghetto areas. That being said, I think the shootings in the central LR area recently show that it really doesn't matter where you live anymore. Crime is everywhere.

Vimy Ridge is Shannon Hills. Alexander is Not a Ghetto; That being said, I've learned this area gets a lot of parolee's because the churches are in the Pulaski County area and there are no schools or major day care centers here. Alexander could be stated as a depressed area because of the policy's of the former mayor who lost her empire with the last election. The city is in a hard bind because of that woman.

It is not ALL of what is considered Alexander. I think what they are refering to is the Ranchette part of it. There are parts of Alexander {Vimy Ridge area and others} that are really very good neighborhoods and people.

Do you all really believe this doesn't go on where you live???It's everywhere it's just who the media wants to report on that makes the difference. It's all about who has enough money to hush it up. There are just as many drug dealers in Maumelle who have guns.
