The American Red Cross of Greater Arkansas continues to care for twenty five residents from the Silver City Court Housing Project, 700 West 18th Street, North Little Rock evacuated from waist high water filling their apartments during last night’s rain.
A shelter is open for the residents of Silver City Court, as well as any other affected residents in North Little Rock at the following location:
North Little Rock Community Center
2700 Willow
North Little Rock
“As a result of the extensive flooding and continuing rain, we expect the Silver City Court residents to be in the shelter for a couple of days,” according to American Red Cross spokesperson Brigette Williams. “As happens with flash floods, the families arrived with no more than the wet clothes they were wearing. We will be working with our partner organizations to help provide additional needs of the families until they can return home.”
In addition to shelter and meals, the Red Cross is providing those affected with comfort kits filled with personal care items including toothbrush and paste, soap and washcloths, as well as bears for the children.
American Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from Arkansans. Arkansans can help the victims of hundreds of disasters across the state each year, disasters like flooding, by making a financial gift to the American Red Cross of Greater Arkansas Family Crisis Fund, which enables the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, counseling and other assistance to victims of disaster.
