Apparent murder-suicide in Pulaski Co

Pulaski County deputies say a Cabot man shot and killed his wife before killing himself Saturday evening.
PULASKI COUNTY, AR - Pulaski County deputies say a Cabot man shot and killed his wife before killing himself Saturday evening.

Deputies say they found Justin Moody and his wife Candace moody dead inside this house in an apparent murder-suicide.

The couple had four children, all of who are under 18; deputies say two of them called 911.

"Obviously the children were very distraught,” said Lt. Carl Minden. “You know, upset, crying. It was stressful. I mean you're basically running in fear for your life."

The children told responding deputies they heard eight gunshots. They also said their parents had been arguing over money the past few months.

It's not the kind of investigation detectives are used to -- they say this is rare.

"This doesn't happen very often, especially in central Arkansas,” said Lt. Carl Minden. “I can't think of the last time we had basically what you would call a murder-suicide incident."

Lt. Minden says all of the children are now staying with other family members. He does not think that DHS will have to get involved.

The Pulaski County SWAT Team responded and cleared the couple's home before investigators went inside.

According to the police report, Justin Moody worked for the Arkansas National Guard.
