Arctic air create dangerously low wind chill values

The winds have quieted down , but frigid temperatures remain in Arkansas. Friday morning's lows dropped into the single digits and teens, and highs in the afternoon only rebounded at best into the middle 20s.

Unfortunately cold weather is in store through the weekend , with some areas dropping below zero in Northern Arkansas Friday and Saturday nights.  We'll stay in the single digits to the middle teens in Central sections.  At least the wind chill won't be quite as low, with only light winds expected.

Highs Saturday will again only top out in the middle 20s.  But as high pressure moves out of the state into the first part of next week, our highs will moderate into the 30s on Sunday, and the 40s for Monday and Tuesday.

By the end of next week slight rain chances will return, and temperatures back to normal, around 50 degrees.

But this IS NOT Alaska nor Montana, Razorback. Just because a hammer gets hit on the head with a hammer all of the time, that doesn't mean it will not be painful to us. ;)

I walked outside this morning and found a squirrel frozen to the tailpipe of my truck. Dumb Squirrels.

I've lived in Alaska and Montana - it doesn't get THAT cold here.

My hope is for all the people to remember to bring there animals in from the cold. Animals are like people to and get cold and hungry. They die from the cold.

memyselfi - I feel for you. I do not miss the cold the northern states have to endure. My year in upstate New York was more than enough for me.. People here in Arkansas have no idea.. :-)

drt - I was shoveling the snow drift from my sidewalk a few weeks ago and it was -1. I have at least 4-5 feet of snow in my yard right now. When we had our first snow storm a month ago the wind picked up my gas grill and threw it. It has been mild here compared to last year we got our first snow storm in November and snowed nearly every day until spring. The walk to our door had a wall of snow on both sides. LOL
