LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A Senate committee Wednesday again rejected a bill that would have let holders of concealed-weapons permits take handguns into Arkansas churches, synagogues and mosques.

The bill died in the Senate Judiciary Committee when it failed to receive enough "Yes" votes.

Rep. Beverly Pyle had revised a bill that the committee rejected last month. This time around, the Republican from Cedarville proposed letting churches determine themselves whether guns should be allowed.

Under current law, concealed weapons cannot be taken into bars or churches.

Sadly this is an issue that has to be addressed. No one should even have to worry about carrying a gun into a church. But you know what, it sure wouldn't hurt. Thank goodness church shootings aren't in the news just a whole lot, but let's face it...we have heard about it and sadly it happens. I can't imagine what would make a person want to do something like that anywhere, much less a church. Just like the couple that fought back against a robber at Wal-Mart. Thank goodness the husband had a gun, but what if he hadn't? That could've been a bad situation. I can't remember exactly where it was but the incident that happened not too long ago when an idiot stepped in the church and just started blasting, killing the preacher....that was horrible. What if someone in that church would have had their gun with them (legally of course), maybe the outcome couldn't been a little different. It's sad to even have to consider something like this, but just thinking about how many crazy, stupid, ignorant morons are out there.....I sure don't think it would hurt.
