LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Gov. Mike Beebe says Arkansas flags at the Capitol and other state-owned buildings will be flown at half-staff as a mark of respect for the people who died during the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11.

Beebe proclaimed that the state flags will be flown at half-staff at those buildings from sunrise to sunset on Tuesday — the 11th anniversary of the attacks.

The governor also encouraged Arkansans to participate in some sort of community service to honor the people who died as a result of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Thank you itsjustme for helping us remember where we were on that tragic day. Never forget the cowardly event and why it happened. Some say it was because we befriended Israel, I feel it was because cowardly attacks were the way alkaida, or however you spell chicken s***, is the way they do business. People who murder and do not care who is hurt deserves no mercy, what ever it takes to eliminate them is what neds to be done.

Even though it has been 11 years since the cowardly attacks the terrorists committed, I would like to ask everyone to reflect back on that day and on all of those that unselfishly went above and beyond the normal call of duty, risking their lives to help someone they have never met. Pray for those that perished that day as well as their families. Pray for the women and men that serve our country everyday, pray for the Firefighers, Police Officers, EMT's and ALL public servants. Remember the unity of the USA during this time and pray that someday we, as a country, can unite together again and stop the nonsense within our borders. We have enough people to worry about trying to kill us, we dont need to kill each other. Look at what you have and be thankful.
