LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas Secretary of State Mark Martin has asked the state Supreme Court to dismiss him from a lawsuit challenging a medical marijuana proposal.

In court documents filed Wednesday, Martin's office asked Arkansas' highest court to dismiss him from the suit brought by a coalition seeking to have the marijuana proposal struck from the November ballot.

Election officials last month approved the ballot proposal to legalize medical marijuana after verifying that supporters had turned in enough signatures from registered voters.

The lawsuit is the third pending before the court over proposed ballot measures. Justices are also considering whether to allow two competing casino legalization proposals on the November ballot.

Make it legal. Tax that stuff. Watch the National debt reduce by leaps and bounds. Take the money out of it and watch the crime go down. Watch the people doing the hard drugs stop and go back to pot. Lots of people go to the drugs that the half life is short on. Meth, coke, and pills. Drug test has made many a junkie. Get high Friday be clean Monday. If alcohol then why not pot. Make it legal and watch the prison system cleared out. More room for your violent type criminal. With the National Debt be rated at 50 thousand a person right on down to my great grand children make it legal and tax it. Watch us old pot heads smoke this country out of debt in a few short years. By the way I'd say there is likely to be a small grow system in about 1 in every 500 homes already.

Concerning our SoS; didn't Martin say he was going to run for governor when Beebe's term was up? If so, smart of him to back out of this one; he would have lost my vote if he ran for governor. Hear that Mark? I'm probably not the only one either.

It is sad that a man can't take a leak in his own yard. I've had buddies that were stationed in Europe that told me they whip it out in public and do it; men and women. I'm surrounded on all 4 sides by woods and pastures; neighbors can't see my home or yard; so I do have that "luxury". I also break the law when I see a copperhead in the yard.

Indeed - people are going to smoke it anyway. Pot has been used for centuries for medicinal purposes; one would think an alchemist would know that. wp; you are so very right on your 2nd post! Beg to differ Butch. When this country was born - so called "Christians" murdered women that were believed to be "witches". Native Americans were murdered in untold numbers. The French and Indian War resulted in British and French military ( and their respective Native American allies ) killing lot's of civilians. I could go on, but I'm sure my point was made. I will agree with you on "Who cares. I'll smoke it if I want to." Pass the law indeed!

Who cares. I'll smoke if I want to. With all the problems in the world I think they would have better things to worry about. When this country was born the pleasure of it was man could do what he wanted. He didn't worry about what the next man did. As long as basics were observed they didn't care. No murder, thieving, rape, so on and so fourth. Now everyone wants to run everyone else business. The best thing to remember is puff and pass. Got to where a man can't even whip it out and take a pee on his own property. Pass the law.

his name being on it in the first place says that he doesn't believe in the people having the right or being competent enough to vote on the issue...I'm so sick of the ignorant personal beliefs in govt, interfering with individual liberties. authoritarian, theocratic, dictatorial bs.
