LITTLE ROCK, AR -- People of all ages and all skill levels play in Saturday's Arkansas State Chess championship.

"There is a whole mix and different styles of players here. They play tactics. They play positions," said tournament director Alan Myatt.

The event is planned by the State Chess Association, featuring players locally and out of state. This includes 7-year-old Jason Netpaloy who once practiced against his dad to prepare.

"We used to play, but at that time I was already better than him. So it really didn't help me much. So what he did was got the material I needed," said Netpaloy.

The goal of the game is to outsmart the opponent. But in just enough time.

"You might be winning the game. But if you run out of time on your clock, then you lose," said Myatt.

After being held in different parts of the state for the last couple of years, this year planners brought the game back here to Little Rock's Statehouse Convention Center.
