Arkansas Senate Passes Health Care Expansion Bill

Vote was for measure giving private option health insurance for 250,000 low-income Arkansans.
LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Arkansas Senate has now joined the Arkansas House in passing a much-watched health care expansion bill.

Wednesday night at the State Capitol, senators voted 28-7 in favor of HB 1219, which the House easily passed in its second vote on the measure Tuesday, 77-23.

The bill provides private health insurance for 250,000 low income Arkansans rather than adding them to government Medicaid rolls.
