FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - The Democratic nominee to Congress in Arkansas' 2nd Congressional District has pleaded not guilty in Fayetteville to a charge of driving while intoxicated.

Herb Rule did not appear in court Monday. The plea was entered in a letter from his attorney.

Rule was arrested earlier this month by a Fayetteville police officer who reported Rule was drifting between lanes and driving below the posted speed limit. A police report says Rule failed a field sobriety test and refused to take a blood-alcohol test.

Rule - a former Democratic state legislator - has denied driving drunk and says he has no plans to withdraw from the central Arkansas congressional race in which he faces incumbent Republican Rep. Tim Griffin.

Isn't his party's symbol a jackass? Could the Dems replace their party symbol with a picture of him?

The "good ol' boys" network is alive and well. I'm sure all of you realize that our DA's, judges, high profile lawyers, "public servants", politicians, and others; they have a different set of laws than the rest of us do! It's been that way for a long time, and will continue to be until we take all of them out and get rid of them; like we did in the late 1700's.

The video from the cruiser dash cam looked like he was as drunk as cooter brown. As Butch would say - he was bad wobbly legged.

Someone is showing lots of favortism toward him. I wonder is Congressman Griffin knows about this? I feel sure he does but I think I'll write him and let him know just in case.

Is he "too good" to appear in court like the rest of us? Slap a failure to appear charge on top of what he already has and let him sit in Intake for a while...try pandering for votes in the holding cell. Refused a BAC/breathalyzer test? Makes you guilty as sin...the law says so.

He entered a plea per a letter, what favortism, He refused a blood alchol test he is guilty, In arkansas your license is supposed to be suspended at that instance. He does not deserve to run for office.

like that loser has a chance at beating Griffin..he should donate the rest of his campaign funds to a charity that helps the victims of drunk drivers.
