Good point jmarthur - Osamacare will make this much worse. These medical residents are coming out of school with huge loans and 12 years of education and truly must look at the return on their investment of time and money so I do not blame them at all

start using physician assistants more. it is a profession that has been in the US since the 1960s. there are more than 100,000 physician assistants in the country. they extend physicians. PAs diagnose and treat patients. it is a win win for everyone, especially the patient. arkansas is next to last in the country in number/use of pa s in the state. the medical board is not progressive enough to serve the needs of the public. Hardin university has had a PA program for a few years. UAMS is just now starting a program.

Bravo to Paul Cunningham for highlighting the real reason we can't keep our doctors in Arkansas. Unfortunately no solution to this reimbursement disparity is addressed in Obamacare. Doctor shortage will only get worse in Arkansas under Obamacare.
