LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe is calling the racially charged writings of three Republican House candidates embarrassing, but says he doesn't believe they reflect the views of the state or the GOP.

The Democratic governor told reporters Tuesday the writings by state Rep. Jon Hubbard, Rep. Loy Mauch and House candidate Charlie Fuqua are sad, but don't represent the state.

Hubbard wrote in a 2009 book that slavery was a "blessing in disguise" and Fuqua advocated deporting all Muslims in a 2011 book. Mauch called Abraham Lincoln a war criminal and defended slavery in dozens of letters to a Little Rock newspaper.

Republican leaders have distanced themselves from the comments, and the GOP has said it won't contribute any more to the three candidates.

There are classes offered that will help you with your spelling and grammar. It appears you are connected to the 'net; shouldn't be too hard to find. No need to yell either ( all caps ). And what does BOOM mean?

Layla, I try to get along, but when people are ignorant to reality, its difficult, but thank you for trying. LOL. thaone, I just had lunch with several of my old "war buddies" as I do each Tuesday. Over half that were there today were black. I took my laptop in with me and I had shown them your comments. Funny, but sad, part is that they ALL agreed that not only are you a racist, but you fit the true dictionary definition of the reverened "n" word. And they put strong emphasis on the ignorant part of it. Does this mean that in your eyes, that they, as well as myself, are racist? No. It means that they and myself are smart enough to see what a true idiot you are. I hope that you and your friends think that what you speak is cool or "the truth", because its far from it. You speak of pure ignorance. If I WAS a racist, I'd kill myself because that would put me at your level, and Im not willing to drop that low. Get a life.

thaone; You do seem a bit racist. Who said "we" didn't like blacks? My last job before disability - the best friend I had at the store is a black man. We talk several times a week. We shared a common bond; we were the only two in the store that knew anything about pro baseball and pro football; we also shared another bond; I went to high school 80 miles from The Windy City, where he is from. We've both been to Wrigley and Comisky many a time; although not together. I'll tell you something else. I ran into a former co-worker of ours in Sears earlier this year. He started talking about my friend, and called him a n*****. I looked him in the eye and told him V was not a n*****, but a black man, and I did not appreciate him calling him that. He freaked out, and asked me not to tell my friend what he said. I told V the next time I seen him; and that guy went into the store not too long ago and V was staring him down, and the guy wouldn't look at him. My wife and I have a black lady that is dear to us. She recently lost her legs. We visit her when we can, we've told her to call us if she ever needs anything, we went to her birthday party at the hospital. Should have seen the looks from her conservative relatives when a biker and his wife walked in with a very nice gift for her. They couldn't believe it! I don't hate people of color, I hate ignorance. And as pointed out, it comes in all colors.

@thaone; You can't be serious! Plus or minus a few percentage points, blacks are outnumbered 7 to 1 by whites. 9 to 1 by all other races here. Civil unrest? State, county, and local police. The Guard. The military. A quarter million in the patriotic organization I belong to; not to mention the American Legion and VFW. Not to mention the patriotic black Americans that would be against you. It would be a very, very short day for your "dog"! Have you heard "The pen is mightier than the sword"? Judging by your grammar and spelling, you "sword" woudn't have a snowball's chance in you know where. Either way, thanks for the chuckle!
