LITTLE ROCK, AR -- One down, and now three sites to choose from for the Little Rock Tech Park.

Board members eliminated the River Front Plaza site from the list.

That's the former site of Alltel.

The committee said that location would have been too difficult and too expensive to renovate for tech jobs.  They still have a downtown site and two southwest Little Rock sites to choose from.

"These tech parks turn out to be a community of themselves, and if you don't put them in a place where you can build communities and build relationships with the intellectual cities like the universities then they don't succeed," Dr. Mary Good, a member of the Tech Board, said.

The board will now have engineers tour the sites and offer recommendations.

How about eliminating the idea altogether! Do we really need this with all the higher education choices in central AR? How about the state tightening the old belt; all the rest of us are having to do it!
