A Hogs loss as gut-wrenching as Louisiana-Monroe's historic upset? That can bring new meaning to the term "Hog wild."
For instance, Razorback fan Jacob Dove planned to make the trek to Fayetteville this weekend for the Alabama game but not anymore.
"We just decided to save the money on the hotel and the trip and everything else," he said, "so we just decided to give our tickets up."
Then there is a Facebook page, liked by more than 15,000 people, saying "bring Bobby Petrino back to Arkansas in 2013."
But here's what may take the cake:
"Anyone who wagered on Arkansas is getting their money back," explained Dan Leach. He is a consultant to gambling website SportsBettingOnline.ag, and you read that right. They're bookmakers who feel so bad for Hogs supporters -- they're refunding any money lost by people who bet on Arkansas against 30-point underdog Louisiana-Monroe.
"The reason that it's such a special and unique situation," said Leach, "is that this is a monumental, historic upset up there with Appalachian State-Michigan and the biggest of all time."
Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves though. The Hogs had one tough loss, but they are still the Hogs. So if you're thinking about putting money on the home team this weekend and think SportsBettingOnline.ag will give you another refund should they fail to cover the spread -- think again.
"Hey stranger things have happened, you never know," said Leach, "but I would say that is very unlikely because that's just a straight underdog bet. This was when Arkansas was favored by 30 against Louisiana-Monroe."
SportsBettingOnline.ag says they refunded about 150 individual bets on the Razorbacks. They say about 20% of those bets were placed in Arkansas.
