Boppy Pillows Donated to Arkansas Nurse-Family Partnership Home Visiting Program for Mother’s Day

The Boppy Effect™: Get One, Give One Program supports first-time moms.
LITTLE ROCK, AR (News Release) - The Boppy Company, maker of the award-winning Boppy® Feeding and Infant Support Pillow, has donated 100 Boppy® Slipcovered Pillows to the Arkansas Nurse-Family Partnership Home Visiting Program (NFP) to give to first-time moms living in poverty through the Boppy Effect®: Get One, Give One program.

For every Boppy Slipcovered Pillow purchased at Babies “R” Us stores and Babiesrus.com during the month of May, The Boppy Company will donate a Boppy Slipcovered Pillow to NFP agencies, which will distribute them to clients—first-time, low-income moms. NFP supports these new moms by providing each mom with a registered nurse who provides her with home visits throughout pregnancy until her child’s second birthday—empowering her to have a healthy pregnancy, improve her child’s health and development, and achieve economic self-sufficiency.

“There are numerous benefits to breastfeeding, including providing valuable antibodies to the newborn during the first few days postpartum, as well as protecting mom from certain types of cancer like ovarian and breast, just to name a few,” April Moore, Program Administrator, Arkansas Nurse-Family Partnership Home Visiting Program at ADH said.

“However, it’s not always easy to breastfeed and sometimes it takes a little work. That’s where The Boppy Pillow can come in handy as it provides wonderful positioning support for breastfeeding moms. Arkansas’s breastfeeding rates rank near the bottom nationally so this generous gift of 100 pillows will help us to continue to promote and encourage breastfeeding among our state’s new moms.”

To participate in The Boppy Effect: Get One, Give One program, consumers visit Babies “R” Us during the month of May and buy a Boppy Slipcovered Pillow. Then, The Boppy Company “gives one” Boppy Slipcovered Pillow to a mom-in-need through the Arkansas Nurse-Family Partnership Home Visiting Program. Consumers can also fill out a provided postcard to write a message of support to these new moms. Consumers can also participate in this program by making a monetary donation to Nurse-Family Partnership directly through the NFP national website to help grow NFP programs nationwide. Throughout the month of May, Babies “R” Us customers will also find a postcard in their Registry Gift Bags, which they can use to write a note of encouragement to an NFP mom, even if they do not purchase a Boppy Pillow.

Based on over 35 years of proven research, Nurse-Family Partnership has produced significant outcomes including a 79 percent reduction in preterm delivery for women who smoke, 48 percent reduction in child abuse and neglect; and 56 percent reduction in emergency room visits for accidents and poisonings, among others. Since its inception, Nurse-Family Partnership has served 167,061 at-risk families and now serves close to 25,000 families in 42 states.
