If this coach did this and that is standard protocol? Well then we have the answer as to why there is so much VIOLENCE. Its what our young are taught.

My son plays on the same team with this young man, what was said in this story did not happen from what he witnessed. I commend these coaches who mold these young boys to play a tough sport. My son has came a long way and i wouldnt have it no other way. Parents have to understand the basics of sportsmanship to football. I do not believe in violence but im just saying if his dad think its too tough for him then dont play.

Maybe they can get him a nice soft pink chin strap and some fluffy shoulder pads, you think he is still breast feeding?

He just looks like a whiner. Probably runs in the family. If your kid is a whiner he probably didn't fall to far from the tree.

I agree with WildOne. This kid better thank his lucky stars he goes to school in the touchy-feely time we live in now. I also do not believe this kid's story. If his chin strap was too tight, that tells me he was wearing it correctly. If the coach picked him up by the helmet, like the kid says, then it could not have choked him. Sounds to me, tiddly-winks or checkers would be much better for him. It appears anything more would be too "rough" for him. AND I played football when I was his age. The coach grabbed my facemask several times and jerked me where I needed to go. He also called us names like the word that begins with a "p" and ends with a "y". Back then, that was called "getting your attention" and it made you think and made you better. Nowadays, kids can't handle it. They're coddled too much and spoiled rotten.

@xwildone...what does that have to do with anything? Who cares about the past...we're looking at "right now" in ref to this situation. This coach had no business doing what he did. Yes football is a rough and tuff sport and no one said you need to be nice and soft to get your point across. However, if this story reads true and the coach just snapped like that then it doesn't need to be taken lightly. Yes an investigation needs to be done and all the players need to be questioned.

These kids nowdays are lucky they didn't go to shool back in the 50s & 60s when it was really rough.
