Charges filed for 2002 double murder

The Faulkner County prosecutor has filed capital murder charges against a man suspected of killing two people in Conway in 2002.
CONWAY, AR – The Faulkner County prosecutor has filed capital murder charges against a man suspected of killing two people in Conway in 2002.

Richard Conte is suspected of killing 48-year-old Carter Elliott and 25-year-old Timothy Robinson. According to the Conway Police, Conte is serving time in a Nevada prison for the kidnapping of his ex-wife Lark Gathright-Elliott. She is also the ex-wife of Carter Elliott.

Conte served 9 years of a 15 year sentence and was set to be released on Sunday. Now he will be held on the felony warrant.

“We’ve felt all along that there was enough evidence to warrant charges, but it’s up to the prosecutor to make the final decision,” said Conway Police Chief AJ Gary. “We can’t speak for previous prosecutors as to by charges weren’t filed earlier.”
