Church Fire May Have Burned Evidence of Cause

Structural damage to the First Baptist Church at Highland Park is estimated at $1.5 million dollars.

LITTLE ROCK, AR- Investigators may never find the cause of a fire that destroyed a Little Rock church.

The fire started on April 28th at the First Baptist Church at Highland Park. Little Rock firefighters requested help from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.

ATF investigators say the fire and water destroyed too much of the evidence that could have determined a cause.

"You'd like to come to some kind of fruition on what you're doing that you want to come up and say 'yeah. I can point my finger and say that is what caused it,'" said ATF agent Wade Rasberry, "But we don't live in a perfect world."

Structural damage to the church is estimated at $1.5 million dollars.
