No doubt you've seen the signs all over Central Arkansas advertising CityFest, well get ready this free event kicks off Saturday on the North Shore Riverwalk in North Little Rock.
The event, started by Evangelist Luis Palau, features gospel and Christian music acts is a culmination of the season of service outreach project.
In Oregon people showed up by the thousands for CityFest and founder Luis Palau hopes the same happens here. "We shall see the beginning of a great awakening," says Palau. "Don't you wish we had an awakening?"
They're definitely getting the word out. Signs are all over North Little Rock and they're highly visible in Little Rock too; there are even stickers on cars.
The event will take place on North Little Rock's North Shore Riverwalk Saturday and Sunday. It celebrates the Season of Service, a community service project. Leaders of churches, communities and education are all taking part.
Palau promises something for everyone from the kids zone and BMX sports to christian and gospel music artists like grammy award winner Kirk Franklin. "I'm looking forward to just seeing all these different people coming together - young, old, black, white, hispanic, Asian, whatever nationality - coming together and talking about God's goodness," says Franklin.
Palau started putting on this event many years ago to get people to come to Christ. Palau recalls getting a letter from a teenager who attended a CityFest event. "She said, 'All my life long I've been searching for meaning.' She was 16, my life has been changed," says Palau. "In Little Rock and North Little Rock we're gonna talk about the rock and the rock is Jesus Christ."
257 churches in the area are also taking part in CityFest. They expect about 40,000 people to come out over the two day period.
