LITTLE ROCK, AR -- The Star City High football team is praying for the recovery of seriously injured player Zack Towers.

The linebacker was injured during a game last week. Doctors had to perform brain surgery.

Friday night, the team played Heber Springs High. Before the game, both teams met at midfield to pray for Towers. The school also released 500 blue and white balloons to support the Senior student, whose condition was upgraded from critical to serious Friday.

"Everybody has been a little sad. But we are trying to support each other through prayer. At lunch, we had a prayer circle," said classmate Jordan Johnson.

The community also made shirts saying "Tower Power."

"It means keep calm, don't be emotional, and pray for Zack," said student Carlie Harrison.

Throughout the city, several businesses have painted storefronts sending messages of inspiration to the Towers' family.

"Everyone has faith that he will recover. It is just going to take time," said supporter Jenna Johnson.
